Dare to Compare

All EMDRIA approved EMDR training courses contain the essentials for learning EMDR. These include The Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) approach and EMDR’s 8 Phases and 3 Prongs of the standard EMDR treatment. An introduction to additional clinician adaptations for treating children, recent events, couples, grief, pain, phobias, addictions, and dissociation are included in all training courses.

While the above are the minimum requirements, training providers have the option to add additional material to their training that they feel will help clinicians integrate EMDR into their clinical practice.

Training providers also approach the training philosophy differently. Some training organizations approach teaching EMDR from a research perspective, with the focus of being on fidelity to the standard protocols and procedures. This approach often feels rigid, overly structured, and as though the clinician is being asked to integrate their clinical knowledge into EMDR 8 Phases.

EMDR Consulting’s Training Approach

EMDR Consulting’s approach is designed to help clinicians integrate EMDR into their clinical practice. In addition to the standard elements of EMDR, we stress attunement, attachment, and clinical judgment as the cornerstones of integrating EMDR into your clinical practice.

EMDR Consulting’s approach includes lecture, videos, and practice opportunities. Our training has updated the original procedures developed by Francine Shapiro in 1995 by expanding treatment planning, preparation, and processing interventions. We teach and clinicians
practice:

  • Treatment Planning: 7 different target sequence planning approaches based upon core beliefs
  • Preparation: 13 different grounding, stabilization, and behavior change skills
  • Processing: The Processing Continuum: EMD, EMDr, EMDR. In 2013, EMDR Consulting was the first training organization to teach this variable speed bilateral stimulation processing technique. We are pleased to report that, in 2017, other training organizations have begun to incorporate some of these bilateral stimulation techniques into their training course.

We follow a hear it, see it, do it approach:

  • Hear it: PowerPoint lecture following the materials in your training manual
  • See it: We show 43 videos during our training to help the clinician see what they are about to practice!
  • Do it: In dyads, you practice what you have learned and observed from the videos. By working in dyads, clinicians get a feel of what it will be like to integrate EMDR into their clinical practice.
EMDR Consulting’s Training Course is Affordable!

We offer the entire training for an all-inclusive fee of $1395 / $995 (non-profit), which includes the cost of the required 10 hours of group consultation.

And we offer 5 month payment plans, too!!
